The functioning of the electronically based anti-slip systems (ASS
) is to prevent the spinning of the drive wheels. Using sensors, the driving force is distributed so that no wheel gets more power than it actually needs to drive it. In contrast to the limited slip differential that operates mechanically, the spinning of the wheels does not ultimately prevent it with anti-slip systems. Engine performance is also influenced, so that the wheels get fed only as much power as is actually necessary. Some systems may affect the brakes at speeds of up to 40 km/h and thus prevent the wheels from spinning.
